LyricWiki – lyrics at your fingertips

Long, long ago, in a galaxy far away know as Springfield, Ohio, I was a singer in a band. It was 1989, and I was trying to learn the words to R.E.M.'s song, "The End of the World As We Know It." I sat with my cassette tape player and a notebook pushing play, rewind, and play for several hours as I tried to decipher Michael Stipe's words and then transfer them to my notebook. This was the way you had to do it back then kids. Well much time has passed since those glory days of old, and with the arrival of the internet (and the death of cassettes) it is now much easier to find lyrics to your favorite tunes. While lyric sites have been around for about as long as the net itself, I was recently pointed by the good folks at Lifehacker to a wonderful new Lyric site, LyricWiki.org.  Set up in much the same way as the collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia, this site has an enourmous searchable library of song lyrics.  Whether you are an aspiring young musician or a casual fan just wondering what the heck does Trey say in Reba? – you can find it at LyricWiki.  Check it out, and voice your opinion by leaving a comment below.  It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine…damn this would have been awesome in 89.  I am starting to sound like Uncle Rico.
